The system of housing provident fund is an important component of housing financial system in our country. It has been over 20 years since its establishment in Shanghai in the year 1991. Currently, housing provident fund system plays an important role in assuring housing rights of employees, but it is also faced with various challenges from the new era. At the beginning of October, three ministries and commissions, including the department of housing, have issued The Notice Concerning the Development of Individual Housing Loan on Provident Fund Service [2014 (No.108)], requiring housing provident fund centre of each territory to practically assuring the lawful rights of the employees that have deposited by raising the release rate of individual loan on provident fund.
In order to research the current situating, tasks and development tendency of housing provident fund in the new era, Governance and Public Policy Research Institute of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (one of the first think tanks of city board of education), Real Estate Research Institute of University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai Development Strategy Research Institute Wang Hongwei Studio (research and development on real estate market) has united specially to host this symposium.
