Jason Beckfield is Professor of Sociology of Harvard University, and his research direction is Institutional Causes and consequences of social inequality, including Comparative sociology and social change, Economic sociology and organization, Gender and family, Health and Population, Inequality, Political and historical sociology, Race, Nationality and immigration, Urban and urban poverty, and his research focuses on South America and Europe.

As PhD student of Indiana University Bloomington, his first positivistic sociology essay published on Journal of Health and Social Behavior, and was honored Eliot Freidson Outstanding Publish Award issued by American Sociological Association Medical Sociology Division. He was also honored Senior Researcher of Nuffield College of Oxford University, Director of Standing Committee of European Research Committee, George Kahrl Award of Harvard University, the American Sociological Association Essay Award, and Outstanding Graduate Tutor Award of Indiana University.
