On the morning of Jan 11, 2014, the 2013 annual meeting for Master of Taxation was held in beautiful Hangzhou and hosted by Prof Zhu Weiqun, who is the dean of MT teaching center and director of taxation department. The meeting was undertook by our part time tutor Mr. Yu Zichen, the president and general manager of Zhejiang Zhongrui Jiangnan CPA Firm. 21 outside tutors include Director Jiang Jianping of Jiangsu bureau of Local Taxation, Deputy director Zhang Songqing of Zhejiang tax bureau, Director Qian Junwen of Changzhou bureau of Local Taxation, Deputy director Yan Caiming of Jinhua Tax bureau, Tax partners of Deloitte Lin Sui, Zhu Weiqun, Ye Yongqing, Tax partner of EY Bu Xinhua, Tax Partner of Zhonghui Yao Huiming, Partner of Zuoquan law firm Yan Xizhong, China Tax Director of Carrefour Wu Dongming, China Tax Director of Marykay Han Mingqin, deputy finance director Zhang Wenyin of Barclays, China Tax Director of international paper Liu Jingfang, Tax partner of Zhongruiyuehua Zheng Fuquan and etc attended this meeting, together with Vice dean of SPEA Prof. Liu Xiaobing and some teachers of taxation department.
Prof. Zhu Weiqun expressed his thanks and gave introduction to the guests. The host Mr. Yu Zicheng made welcome speech, expressed his gratitude to support the Master of Taxation program as a Shufer, and extended best wishes since the Spring Festival is coming soon. Deputy director of Zhejiang Tax Bureau Zhang Songqing, on behalf of director Zhou Guangren, made a welcome speech and introduced the general situation of geography, population, and economic development in Zhejiang province. Our SPEA vice dean Prof. Liu Xiaobing, on behalf of SPEA and SUFE, expressed thanks to the external tutors’ long term support and great effort, pointed out that we aimed to provide a face-to-face platform for these teachers, and hoped that the teachers could share more advice for the program’s future development, and make contribution to SUFE training better taxation talents.
In the keynote exchange section, two students representatives of 2012, introduced the efforts and influences of external tutors made on the education of our master of taxation, with a subject of External tutors of SUFE Master of : our guide. They displayed teachers’ efforts in class teaching and external practice, showed teachers’ instruction and support on students’ career, and extended gratitude to their teachers. Then Prof. Zhu Weiqun introduced the practice and improvement of team discussion with a case in the course Theory and practice of tax on goods and services for 2013 MT. Associated Prof. Yang Danfang explained the revising of 2014 MT training plan, and Ren Xiaohui and Kong Yan gave reports on practice status of 2013 and job status 0f 2011 and 2012 respectively.
In the external tutors communication section, senior manager from Deloitte Zhang Qunyi introduced their tax team’s efforts on how to support MT teaching program and deloitte’s internal training model. Then Shanghai Buoyancy CEO Deng Yinsheng explained their regulation database system in China Customs and taxation. Both teachers’ sharing aroused great interest of attendees. At the end, teachers had a heated discussion and pointed out some problems and weak points. Zheng Fuquan saied he would invite students to join in their cases to accelerate experience and apply to their essays. Wu Dongming found that some students are doing a job totally different with their tax major, pointed out the bright future of taxation work with his own working experience as an example, and hope students not to give up their professional knowledge and teachers to share more career advises and tell students what kind of students are wanted in corporate. Yan Caiming emphasized that internship should be more focused and be combined with essay and the period should not be too long. Yan Xizhong, Liu Jingfang and Han Mingqin all expressed that students should lay emphasis on systematic learning of basic knowledge especially in the learning of laws and accounting instead of social practice. Yan Xizhong said that students should learn laws as their priority for laws are the reflection of economic system, and the second is to learn accounting.
Deng Yinsheng also agreed that tax talents should be equipped with four aspects of knowledge system, laws, accounting ,business, and tax law, and all these aspects require strong logic. He recommend a book walking business and hope it could provide a systematic business thinking pattern. Zhang Qunyi shared some points on learning methods and teaching diversity. First, we should prepare some material before class and give a book list to lead students’ reading and thinking. Second is to prepare problems for discussion in advance. Third is to make use of each student in team discussion. And the last is to make a comprehensive comments on students considering their logic thinking, knowledge structure as well as their displaying ability.
The discussion is so fervent that the meeting ended at around 1 while stared at 8:30 in the morning. And some teachers continued the discussion on and after the lunch. After the meeting, the external tutors expressed their compliment and gratitude in wechat group. The success of this meeting symbolized that the development of our MT program enters a new stage.
