Dean Ni Hong from Ministry of housing and urban-rural development gives a lecture

On the afternoon of March 26, invited by Chief expert of IPPA Prof. Chen Jie, Doctor Ni Hong, dean of housing reform and development department of Ministry of housing and urban-rural development and spokesman, gave a lecture on China’s housing system reform and new urbanization in room 302 of phoenix building.

Before the lecture, SUFE president secretary Prof. Yao LingZheng gave an introduction on Ni Hong, and expressed her warm welcome and heartfelt thanks on behalf of SUFE. Executive dean of IPPA Prof. Liu Xiaochuan issued the certificate of IPPA consultant. Chief expert of IPPA Prof. Chen Jie host the lecture. Prof. He Jinghua, Prof. Fu Wenling, Prof. Yang Cuiying, Associate Prof. Zheng Chunrong, Associate Prof. Li Huiping, Associate Prof. Ma Zuqi, Doctor Kong Yan, Doctor Pan Zi, Doctor Zhang Xuewen and several postgraduates attended the lecture.

Dean Ni Hong successively held the role of division chief of comprehensive division of villages and towns construction department of ministry of construction, vice general manager of China Urban-rural construction and development, deputy major of Hefei city, Head and CPC Secretary of Department of Construction of Anhui Province, and spokesman of Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural development. He had rich practical experience in China’s housing problems involving in several key policies’ making, and also had in-depth theoretical basis. He is doctor of Public administration in Tsinghua University, and had visiting and studying experience in Harvard University and George Washington University. He is also a visiting professor of school of Public administration of Renmin University of China, MPA course professor of the University of Science and Technology of China, and executive council member of Chinese Society for Urban Studies.

Dean Ni Hong kept a long term relationship with Prof. Chen Jie and other IPPA experts. IPPA made a great contribution on policy formulation and argumentation and took up some key research projects of Ministry of housing and urban-rural development.

In the two-hours’ lecture, dean Ni Hong demonstrated comprehensively the historical logic of our housing system, existing problems, and challenge in the situation of new urbanization from a cross-disciplines perspective. The strict system, in-depth theory, open mind, original perspective, rich practice, vivid expression, made the audience better understanding and enlightening inspiration. The auditorium was packed and full of applause. The lecture turned out to be a great success.

After the lecture, dean Ni Hong had a close talk with President of Shanghai Finance University Prof. Wang Hongwei, Dean of IPPA Prof. Hu Yijian and some other teachers of SPEA, regarding the key research in housing policy, future cooperation between ministry and university, and he also extended thanks to Prof. Chen Jie for his long term contribution on offering high-quality research report to Ministry of housing and urban-rural development.
