In the afternoon of 12th June, Vice-dean Liu Xiaobing hosted symposium and welcomed Vice-dean Zhang Zhongfang and her colleagues from School of Finance &Tax and Public Administration, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. Secretary of general party branch, Shen Hui and heads of each department also attended the symposium.

First of all, Mr. Liu welcomed guests on behalf of SPEA. Mrs. Zhang expressed the gratitude and pointed out the main purposes for visiting, which were learning, communicating and making progress together. She hoped that they can communicate with us in terms of discipline development, talents cultivation, and scientific research. Mr. Liu gave them a whole picture of SPEA including the history, philosophy of establishment, specialty development, faculty, students recruitment and scientific research. Teachers of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics asked questions towards each part of Mr. Liu’s introduction, interacting with teachers of SPEA actively.

Teachers in the symposium had deep discussion about several topics, such as How to motivate undergraduates to participate in scientific research, how to carry out undergraduate experimental teaching, how to promote undergraduates’ internship before under employment, system of permanent employment of faculty in SHUFE, entirely merge between public economics and public administration, and how to put more humanity and general knowledge education into university education. The on-going undergraduate teaching reformation project raised much interest of our guests and asked many specific questions towards reformed teaching training schemes. The symposium was moving intensely and actively with in-depth contents.

This symposium gave two sides opportunities to know each other better and they reached a primary agreement that they may co-operate further, such as exchange teaching. All the teachers attending the symposium said they gained more than expectation and looked forward to the next chance for co-operation and communication.
