They formed the foundation of the system of all relevant majors of economics. The fundamental position of economic majors determines the obvious theoretical nature of the courses in these majors, and therefore, the theoretical capability was emphasised in nurturing of talents. Also, application and practice were emphasised in economic majors. The education of numerous economic theoretical specialists with Chinese characteristics was of great concern for the further development of educational reformation and economic development in our country.

Prof. Yang Dakai pointed out that according to the requirement of Teaching and Steering Committee in Economics of Higher Institution, Ministry of Education, which was ‘Economic specialists can be categorised into types including researching, applying, comprehensive, etc. Each university should decide to develop the type of specialists with the characteristics of the university according to their own position and condition of education, society needs and the nature of the major’. Considering the position and condition of our university, as well as years of experience in educational practice of the Department of Investment, the discussion of national teaching standard should be focused on National Economic Management (020103T) of the specially established major. He said that the name of the course ‘Game Theory and Informational Economics’ should also be adjusted to emphasise one of the fields, or the content would be too much to be combined into one course.

In addition, she suggested changing the name of the course National Economic Management into National Economics, in order to highlight its origin of economic majors.

Associate Prof. Jian Desan pointed based on years of experience in undergraduate education and in terms of nurturing undergraduates of wide specifications and solid foundation, that the two courses Industrial Economics and Industrial Organisation and Analysis was redundant in their content, and suggested that the two courses should be combined one course under the same name in order to avoid redundancy and collision between courses, and to nurture economic specialists of wide specifications and solid foundation.
