The 4th Shanghai Roundtable Forum on Policies of Real Estate was Held

In the afternoon of 28th November, the 4th Shanghai Roundtable Forum on Policies of Real Estate, symposium on ‘The Evolution and Trend of Development of Shanghai Housing Security System’, which was sponsored by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Governance and Public Policy Research Institute, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Real Estate Research Institute and Shanghai Development Strategy Research Institute Wang Hongwei Studio, was held in the Meeting Room of Governance and Public Policy Research Institute on the ground floor of red-tiled building.

 

Mr. Li Dong, Vice Director of Shanghai Housing Security and Real Estate Bureau Science and Technology Committee, former Vice Director and Chief of Housing Security Section of Shanghai Housing Security and Real Estate Bureau, was invited to the symposium as the keynote lecturer. Researcher Dai Xiaobo, Director of Shanghai Academy of Social Science Real Estate Industry Research Centre, and Prof. Shi Jiangang, Executive Director of Tongji University Jing Wei (Longitude and Latitude) Real Estate Research Institute, were also invited as commentators.

 

The forum was hosted by Prof. Chen Jie, Executive Director of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Real Estate Research Institute, and Prof. Hu Yijian, Director of Governance and Public Policy Research Institute, gave a welcome speech. During the process of the symposium, Prof. Yao Lingzhen, assistant principal of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Director of Real Estate Research Institute, retained Mr. Li Dong and Research Dai Xiaobo as counsellors of the research institute on behalf of the institute.

 

In the keynote speech, Mr. Li Dong started with the history of Shanghai housing security, looking back on the evolution of Shanghai Housing Security Policies, and emphasised on explaining the basic contents of Shanghai Housing Security System, analysing the features of this system, in order to propose suggestions on future development of Shanghai Housing Security System.

 

Afterwards in the interactive discussion, Research Dai Xiaobo put forward that in the designing of future Housing Security System in Shanghai, attention should be paid to the changes in actual situation and guiding theories, developing from ‘increment’ to ‘stock’. Prof. Shi Jiangang put forward that in the designing of Housing Security System, aids and benefits must be strictly distinguished, restricting housing security to the range of basic right of habitation, so that chances of profiting from assuring housing would be thoroughly restrained.

 

Other participants of the symposium include lecturers from School of Public Economics and Administration such as Vice Prof. Gao Xiaohui, Vice Prof. Li Huiping, Dr. Ye Fang, etc., and several postgraduate students in master and doctoral programmes. There were intense collisions of ideas from all parties throughout the symposium with heated discussions, achieving excellent results.
