On June 16, 2015, Doctor David M. Higgins from RMIT University, invited by SUFE Real Estate Comprehensive Reform Program and Real Estate External Practice Base, came to SPEA and gave an Academic Lecture on Property Investors: Strategies and Organizational Framework. The Lecture was presided by SPEA deputy dean Fang Fang and more than 40 teachers and students attended the lecture.
Dr. David M.Higgins is Associate Professor and Doctoral Coach in Real Estate Finance in RMIT University. He owned bachelor’s degree from University of Leicester, Master’s degree from University of Western Sydney, and Doctor’s degree from University of Technology, Sydney. As a well-known expert in real estate investment, he is now visiting professor of Xiamen University, and gave lessons for Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiaotong University. Dr. David M Higgins is Editor of Pan-Pacific Real Estate Association, Editor of Australia Real Estate Association, Committee Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor(RICS), Committee Member of Australia Real Estate Association, Director of Pan-Pacific Real Estate Association and Committee Member of Australia Real Estate Research Forum.
Worked in practice world in his early years, Dr. Higgins is an expert with theory and practice experience. He has nearly 25 years’ working, researching and teaching experience in real estate finance, market and investment in various countries.
Dr. Higgins discussed real estate investment strategy and operation outline from property category, market period performance and development. He introduced three market models to determine investment strategy and operation outline.
In the lecture, attendees were active and proposed many questions, such as, risk control problem in green real estate investment, school district house, government policy on green real estate investment. Dr. Higgins shared his answers and made further discuss.
Through the discuss and research with Dr. Higgins, our teachers and students established some cooperation subjects. They expressed that this lecture helps a lot in improving their teaching and research ability and they had a better understanding in real estate’s development in Australia.
