China Society of Administrative Reform(CSOAR) Urban Governance Study Center Establishes in SUFE

On June 27, the Inauguration Ceremony of China Society of Administrative Reform Urban Governance Study Center was held in SUFE. Secretary-general of China Society of Administrative Reform Prof. Wang Manchuan, Deputy President of China Administration Society and Deputy President of Shanghai Administration Society Prof. Li Qi, Vice President of SUFE Prof. Chen Xinyuan gave speeches respectively. Nearly 100 guests including leaders from CSOAR, Shanghai Federation of Social Science Association, Shanghai Administrative Society, and China-Europe International Business School(CEIBS) and teachers and students from SPEA attended the ceremony.

SUFE Vice President Chen Xingyuan pointed out in his speech that, CSOAR is top-tier national level professional think-tank in administrative reform. The establishment of CSOAR Urban Governance Studies Center in SUFE is a major action of SUFE’s cooperation with high level think-tanks and had profound meaning for SUFE to establish high level think tank. Current situation provides a great opportunity for the development of think tanks. We wish that CSOAR Urban Governance Studies Center could make full use of this opportunity and make much more contribution to promote the modernization of national governance system and governance ability.
 

CSOAR Secretary-general Wang Manchuan said in his speech that, China Society of Administrative Reform (CSOAR), is a national non-profit academic organization with the approval of the State Council and the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Under the supervision of Prof. Wei Liqun who served long time as Dean of research office of State Council, with a goal of building first-rated think tank with Chinese characteristics, firmly around the central tasks of the Party and the State, it studies major theoretical and practical issues concerning administrative reform and innovations in governance, builds a brand, and achieves dozens of research results, providing direct reference for government decision. To establish the Urban Governance Studies Center in Shanghai could make full use of the advantages of CSOAR and SUFE and make more contribution to improve the modernization of the country’s governance.

Shanghai Administration Society Deputy President Li Qi emphasized in his speech that, modernization of governance system and governance ability was mentioned as general goal of comprehensively deepening reforms in the third plenary session of 18th cpc central committee. We felt deeply in the FTZ construction that, the fundamental basis of reform and innovation of investment system, trade system, and finance system is the whole set of management system with a core of government functional transformation. We felt indeed happy to see the fund of Urban Governance Study Center in SUFE, and believed that they could acquire great achievement.



China Society of Administrative Reform Urban Governance Study Center is one of the first four second-organizations of CSOAR. The office is merged with IPPA, and Prof. Hu Yijian takes the dean’s role while Prof. He Jinghua and Associated Prof. Geng Shu take Deputy Dean. The foundation of Urban Governance Study Center aims at the improvement of the development of our public management discipline and public administration decision consulting, with the co-contribution and efforts of SUFE and CSOAR.
