In Spet. 2, Executive Director of research institute of real estate Prof. Chen Jie and deputy director of Housing Security Division of Housing and Urban-rural department Liu Xia were invited to www.gov.cn and talked about the significance and implement path of rebuilding shanty areas. Prof. Chen Jie pointed out that, it has profound meaning for the nation’s sustainable development to accelerate shanty areas rebuilding. First and foremost, shanty areas rebuilding is a major project to promote social construction and realize inclusive growth. Second, shanty areas rebuilding would promote hundreds and thousands of billions’ investment and contribute to stabilize economic growth. Third, it could facilitate new-type urbanization and realize people-oriented. Fourth, it helps expand domestic demand and speed economic structure transformation which includes real estate market structure. Prof. Chen Jie also emphasized that, present task of shanty areas rebuilding is still difficult and facing many obstacles. Innovation in investment and financing systems is needed, such as PPP model.
