During 20 to 23 Feb, invited by School of International Public Policy of Hitotsubashi University, SPEA Professor Yang Cuiying taught Chinese Social Security System and policy for their International Graduate Class. The School of International Public Policy of Hitotsubashi University set Contemporary Public Policy II every year. This course contains two lecturers. The one is Professor Yamashige, Dean of School of International Public Policy, and he teaches Social Security System in Japan. The other is Professor Yang Cuiying, and she would teach Social Security System and Policy in China. Professor Yang Cuiying’s course contains three lectures. The first is Outline of Chinese Social Security System, which introduces China Social Security developing history, achievements, system, elderly service, health insurance, challenges and problems. The Second is System and Policy of Social Endowment Service, which takes Shanghai as an example, introduces China Social Endowment Service developing history, system establishment, exiting problems, new idea and future plan. The third is Long-term Care Insurance Policy, which introduces China long-term care insurance pilot, current problems, and some meditation.
Professor Yamashige introduced Japan Social Security Developing process, Social Security System, Public Pension, Baisc Health insurance, Long-term care insurance, Social Assistance, its influence to social economy, and potential change in the future.
After the lectures, students discussed fiercely on system difference between China and Japan and related policies. It’s a very good teaching method and we can also learn from it.
