SPEA Teaching Workshop Lecture Series--Experience on Professional Courses Preparation

On the afternoon of April 25, SPEA Teaching Workshop Lecture Series--Experience on Professional Courses Preparation was held in room 302 in Phoenix Building. The lecture was host by SPEA Deputy Dean Wang Feng and SPEA Assistant to Dean and Social Security and Social Policy Department Director Zhang Yi took the Speaker role. More than 70 SPEA teachers listened to the lecture.

 

At the beginning of the lecture, Zhang Yi recalled his personal teaching experience. Then, he detailed reported his four feelings on teaching.

 

The first is that skill is more crucial than expression. Teachers should rely on some teaching forms like situational teaching and role play, and teaching skills to reach their teaching goal, making students have interest and accept ideals, so that to finish the teaching process of Understanding-Cognition-Familiarity-Asking. The second is that organization is more crucial than skill. Teachers should follow the teaching order of Introduction-Expansion-Summary and arrange knowledge logically, which would be beneficial to students establishing their knowledge system. The third is that content is more crucial than organization. Zhang Yi stressed the viewpoint of that, it is content that making up the value and depth of courses, through comparative demonstration. The traditional concept-summary method has disadvantage of lacking organization, relying on teachers’ expression ability, and not convenient for students’ review, while material organization method, through introducing academic literature, real case, relevant material, could lead students participate in teaching process including topic perception, theoretical induction, and case summary, stimulating students’ interest on autonomous learning to the greatest extent. The fourth is that information is more crucial than content. Zhang Yi raised that, information is most updated and students should mainly grasp such information which could be grasped only through the courses. He suggested to demonstrated with a center on the information ball.

 

Zhang Yi also shared his experience on material organization. His splendid report won numerous applause from the presented teachers.
