During August 1 to 31, 2017, SPEA Professor Chen Jie, sponsored by China Scholarship Council PhD Supervisor short-term exchange program, visited Florida International University in Miami, USA. The CSC has conducted PhD Supervisor short-term exchange program since 2010, aiming to further promote international graduate program implementation[hY1] , fully motivate PhD supervisors[hY2] , enhance the instruction and emotional connection with graduate students[hY3] , and improve substantial communication and cooperation[hY4] in disciplines and faculty.
The FIU is a public university in Florida. Its students[hY5] scale ranks top 10 in American pubic universities, and its real estate department is top-tier in America. Professor Chen Jie’s 2015 PhD student Hu Mingzhi received CSC PhD Student Fund, and was jointly trained in FIU Real Estate department during 2016 to 2017. During this visit, Professor Chen Jie talked[hY6] with Hu Mingzhi and his FIU Supervisor Professor Lin Zhenguo, and exchanged [hY7] with FIU Real Estate Department Dean Professor William Hardin, who is also co-editor of Journal of Real Estate Research, on future cooperation in faculty visit, student exchange and jointly-held summer course.

During the visit, the paper What types of homeowners are more likely to be entrepreneurs? The Evidence from China, cooperated by Professor Chen Jie and PhD Student Hu Mingzhi, was accepted and issued by well-known economic journal Small Business Economics, the paper Housing Reform in China and Labor Market Participation, cooperated by Professor Chen Jie, PhD Student Hu Mingzhi and Professor Lin Zhenguo, was adopted by Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics special issue[hY1] , the paper Housing, Wealth, Income and Consumption: A Chinese Perspective, cooperated by Professor Chen Jie, PhD student Hu Mingzhi and Professor William Hardin, was finalized[hY2] and will be submitted to top journals soon.

During the visit, Professor Chen Jie also exchanged with FIU Public Administration Department Associate Professor Guo Hai, Associate Professor Chen Shaoming, Assistant Professor Chen Can and international Political Affairs Associate Professor Zeng Jin.
This visit enhanced the academic cooperation between Professor Chen Jie’s Team and FIU related researchers, completed several cooperative papers[hY1] , and laid solid foundation for further cooperation.
