On November 9, 2011, Dalian University of Technology Professor Zhao Sheng-chuan, director of the department of International Cooperation and Exchange, dean of the school of International Cultural Exchange, and dean of the school of Transportation, was invited to visit our school.
At the forum in the morning, Professor Yu Wei, the standing vice dean of our college, gave a warm welcome to Professor Zhao. Then, Professor Zhao introduced the creation and development of the school of Transportation, Dalian university of technology. Geng Shu, the director of public administration department of our college introduced the subject characteristics and teachers’ construction; associate professor Feng Suwei gave a report on the development of transport economics & study of policy over the past five years. Both sides expressed the intention to strengthen the cooperation based on their mutual interest in scientific research and teaching.
In the afternoon, the 65th lecture of SPEA “Public Policy and Management Serial Lectures” was held as scheduled. Professor Zhao gave a report on the topic of “The application of discrete choice model in traffic behaviors analysis”. With many real and vivid cases, professor Zhao explained profound theories in simple language. He made us clear about the modeling techniques and investigation experience of discrete choice model on the aspects of time value, life value and ways of going outside. Finally, he also shared with all the teachers and students of his study experience at Harvard University and the concept of Interactive Learning. Dean of Public Administration Department Tao Yong, teacher Ma Zhiyuan, Feng Suwei, and other teachers and students attended the lecture.
Professor Zhao Shengchuan gained his PHD degree from University of Tokyo with a major in urban plan in 1996 and visited the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University as a Fulbright Scholar in 2008. He has great attainments in the fields of traffic planning &management, traffic economics &policy, and some other related fields. He won many research awards from home and abroad, and enjoys extensive academic influence.
