Public economics policies

The specialty of public economics policies is available for post-graduate and doctorate programs.

1.       Objectives of the programs:

PhD students of this specialty need wide and profound knowledge of relevant disciplines including economics (especially modern public economics), basic theories of public administration, and also insightful understanding of the public finance and other governmental functions. Students will be proficient in at least one foreign language, and able to read original academic works, accomplish academic writing individually and able to do international communication in foreign languages.

Students will need to relate theory with practices and have the analytical skills needed in problem-solving, policy-designing and implementation in the study of public administration, public finance and economics.

After graduation, students will have opportunity for roles as researchers and teachers in the School, or as administrators in the university with financial decision-making and administrative works.

2.       Research interests

The PhD program of this specialty has four research interests in total, they are:

1)       Public education economics and policies

This field studies economics and policies of public education, including the theory and public policies in compulsory education, higher education, component education, technical training and education, lifelong education etc.

2)       Social security theories and policies

This field studies issues in public policies of the social security system in China, such as theories and social policies in pension insurance, medical insurance, unemployment compensation, relief for destitute people etc.

3)       Economic constitutional theory

4)       Health policies and administration
