【8th Career Plan Month】 "Starting Point• Setting Sail” Elitist Alumni Salon (“Big Four” Special Session) ” Was Held Successfully

On the evening of 21st April, 2016, “Starting Point• Setting Sail” Elitist Alumni Salon (“Big Four” Special Session) ”, experience sharing meeting was held in room 302, Phoenix Building, Wuchan Road campus. Three alumni of SPEA were invited to bring students a wonderful experience sharing.

 

 

Mr. Zhang Xu of SPEA first gave introduction of the three alumni’s condition when they were students and their career direction as well as their achievements. After that, three guests shared their own experiences and understanding of career plan.

 

 

 

 

The first one to give sharing was Xu Yiwen, who works in KPMG so far. He introduced the condition of KPMG and his own method of improving his ability in terms of business description, internal hierarchy and CPA in detail. By hearing his sharing, students know that there is not only strict department classification, such as audit, tax, consulting and IT, but also clear hierarchy in accounting firms. New comers belongs to A level and they mainly start to get used to new environment and learning, as well as assisting basic business. After three years’ work, they would have the opportunity to rise to B level, then they will take part in managing, communication and information reporting. On the other hand, students realized that there is a galaxy of talents in KPMG and all of them are working very hard, so the competition is severe. Xu Yiwen suggested students who are determined to work in big four accounting firms that they could initiate the CPA study and examination. “Preparing these things can invoke ourselves because people need some pressure”, said Xu Yiwen.

 

 

 

 

The following to share was Wang Qinyou, who works in Ernst & Young. She described her present work in three words: interesting, boring and toilsome. The work is interesting because she can touch various types of companies and she always learned new things in audition. The work is boring because auditing is a program which lacks of changing. It is more like a formalist process. The work is toilsome because she usually had business trip and had to work overtime in busy season. At last, Wang Qinyou shared her working experience in E&Y and emphasized the significance of interview skills and grades.

 

 

In the last part, Zhuang Peixia, who works in PWC introduced the internal work division and told students how could we choose right position. She also elaborated the differences between management consulting department and finance consulting department. She advised that out-going and communicating-lovers could suitable for management consulting department, while introverted people and people who prefer to do more actual work may consider the department of finance consulting.

 

 

 

 

Three alumni’s brilliant sharing arose students’ warm reaction. Students present had active interaction with the three alumni in terms of the process of CPA examination. Three alumni solved students’ problems by talking about their own experience. The sharing ended in warm applause from people on scene.
