The SPEA team wins the second place of 2014 Deloitte tax championship

The 2014 Deloitte tax championship is held in Shanghai on Oct 24-26. Our SPEA team consisting of Zhang Shan, Huang Na, Wang Yan, and Liang Haoran, win the second place in case study competition.

 


The Deloitte tax championship is a tax competition for students through out the country organized by Deloitte CTA Firm and Deloitte Tax research institute from 2004. The case study competition for undergraduates, aiming at train better tax professional, requires students to analysis and display the related tax problems in business cases which would help them enhance what they have learned, practice their professional skill, improve their comprehensive quality, and cultivate their team work spirit.

 


With a principle of challenge yourself, reshape the world, the case study competition attracts 64 universities and more than 200 undergraduates from four districts of cross-straits including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhongshan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Southwest University of Finance and Economics, Hongkong Polytechnic University, University of Macau, and Taiwan Chengchi University etc. Our SUFE team passes the group competition and semi-final which include case report writing and tax quiz, and finally wins the second place.

 

Meanwhile, in the Essay competition for postgraduates, the essay research on financial and economic effect of VAT reform of construction industry--analysis based on CGE model submit by Tian Zhiwei, our 2013 PHD student, successfully enters the shortlist of national contest.

 


On the forum of tax challenge under the digital economy held by the championship host on the morning of Oct 26, our SPEA Prof. Zhu Weiqun is invited as an honored guest together with Deloitte tax center AP executive director, deloitte foreign partner, and deloitte Shanghai partner, discussing updated tax problems under digital economy with all teachers and students participated. The constructive remark by Prof. Zhu Weiqun arises comprehensive interest and heated discussion.
