During July 7 th to 14 th, SPEA summer social practice team went to the Ao Baoliang Primary School in Bai Ni Jing village, Ordos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to carry out an eight-day summer support teaching activity. The team not only spread knowledge and love but also delivered dream, hope and power to each student. The support teaching activity was interviewed and reported by the Inner Mongolia Ordos Radio and Television, the Dalad Banner Television, the Little Master Newspaper of Ordos and many other media, having a positive social impact.

In order to ensure that the support teaching activity could go smoothly, the volunteer team had started the preparatory work from the beginning of last semester. They kept in close contact with the Ao Baoliang primary school to understand the needs of local students, and they designed, modified and perfected the teaching plan. Also, they took professional training activities about courses teaching and raised money by recycling military training clothes. When everything was ready, the volunteer team, composed of 10 SPEA students, set out with the lead of teacher on July 7th, and after more than 30 hours’ hard seat train and coach journey, they arrived in Dalad Banner of Ordos in the Inner Mongolia on the night of 8th.

During July 9th to 14th, the team completed the teaching task of 9 courses with 84 classroom hours for two classes. Team members prepared vivid and interesting courses according to their abilities and characteristics. They not only taught the basic knowledge of history, geography, English and other subjects to the students in a novel way, but also gave waste utilization and other practical courses related to local actual life to help students take actions to practice the idea of green development.

On the morning of July 12th, the Ao Baoliang Primary School held a simple but grand donation ceremony. The volunteer team brought bags, books, educational toys and other school supplies with total value of 12,000 yuan to the local children. And they also delivered love and hope from the volunteer team as well as all warm hearted people. Students in the Ao Baoliang Primary School performed a well-rehearsed sign language dance named grateful heart to express their gratitude to the volunteer team and all people who offered help.

Through the six-day’s support teaching, the volunteer team had built profound friendship with students in the Ao Baoliang Primary School. Although the volunteer team members were serious teachers in the classroom, they were closed brothers and sisters at spare time. At the farewell time, team members and students of the primary school performed talent shows to express mutual gratitude and best wishes. Many primary school students and support team members embraced together, falling distressful tears of farewell. The tears were the symbol of friendship and contained the purest love and expectations.
The support teaching trip brought not only material help but also spiritual company and guide to the local children. Ten members of the team not only gained valuable practical experience, but also got public benefit spirit rooted in the remote Inner Mongolia plateau, which was like a grass now but one day might grow into a piece of green. The volunteer activity connected Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and the Ao Baoliang Primary School which were separated from each other by thousands of miles. More importantly, it also connected SUFE students’ sincere dedication and desire of local children to explore the world and future.

We might not spend whole life time to do support teaching work, but we would spare no efforts. The time of support teaching is limited, but SUFE students’ love for children in remote areas is inexhaustible, and this love will continue to pass on.
